Water… The fluid of life. It all started from water and water is still the basis for our lives. The wonderful fluid that hydrates our bodies, adds small amounts of minerals, helps our body to detoxify and allows all the processes to occur. Without water there would be no life.
Now some people drink litres of it some drink little amounts, some prefer other drinks and don’t really drink water. But probably none of you people in front of monitors (including me) really knows what it actually means to not have the possibility of drinking anything at all. Well we are actually safe with all the drinks available in shops, but what about the people who do not have any access to them. And I don’t mean a few thousand people. We are speaking about millions or even billions of people having to drink contaminated water in order to survive. They usually don’t have any choice.

So for people in southern Asia or Africa there is water but the water available is not the fluid of life, well it actually is full of life forms like dangerous bacteria and viruses with certain amount of dirt and pollution. And this also concerns a lot of the water flowing through our countries. So people with no access to clear water are left with a simple choice: drink what you have or dry up.

There have been many attempts to solve this problem but nothing really worked on a bigger scale. Either the projects were to expensive, took too long, or they were simply unsufficient. Especially during bigger disasters occuring, like hurricanes or tsunamis, people in the danger area were pretty much left on their own and it took some time before the help arrived. That’s what usually happened. And people died…

Well, what can we do if nothing works. Nothing worked YET.
Yesterday, I felt pretty inspired by the speech of a man called Michael Pritchard. He was talking about the problem with the water in the world and he presented his new invention to the people. A lot of filters have been introduced before but none of them had the technology preventing the bacteria and viruses passing through its holes. Lifesaver bottle introduced by Michael Pritchard has filter holes of a 15nm size. That stops all the unwanted stuff from passing through and thus the water is clean and drinkable. As simple as it sounds it actually works. All the dirt is filtered out of the water.
