The Secretary of State won’t allow you to obtain license tags for your vehicle if you cannot provide proof of valid auto insurance. If you want to legally drive a car then you must also have license tags that are valid. Tickets, fines, and the possibility of having your license suspended are all possibilities if you drive without car insurance.

When police find that you are driving without insurance, they can have your cat towed away at your expense. It is very costly to each state when drivers operate their vehicles without insurance. It is a great benefit to the driver to have insurance as it offers a safety net to you.

Those that drive without insurance are just sitting ducks waiting for the aftermath of an accident. Drivers with no insurance risk losing their vehicle and also open themselves up to the prospect of being sued.

Anyone that was involved in the accident, whether it was from your car or another, have the right to sue you for the cost of their medical fees or even pain and suffering. That is the point of having auto insurance so if something like this happens you aren’t faced with multiple expenses.

In addition, the insurance company will cover costs of repairing your vehicle after you meet your deductible. If it turns out that your car gets totaled, the insurance company will give you the cash to buy a new one.

At some point, everyone that decides to drive without insurance is going to need to buy it, even if for a short period of time. There is a database that lets all insurance companies know who has been driving without insurance.

These people are considered to be high risk and while they can still buy insurance it is often probationary and extremely costly. Driving with no insurance is a risk that is not worth taking.
