How To Get A Credit Card, Even With Bad Credit And Avoid Getting Ripped Off!

August 11th, 2009 · No Comments

It is becoming increasingly difficult to get by in our society without a credit card. If you have bad credit, this difficult is increased substantially. Everything from online transactions, rental cars, hotel reservations – all require a credit card. Even if you have bad credit, you can still get a credit card without getting ripped off!

Here are some things to consider before signing your name to a new credit card application:

Avoid Program or membership fees. There is a difference between an annual fee and a membership or program fee. These fees are normally around $95 a year or even just a one time fee. Either way, there is no reason why you should have to pay this fee. There are cards out there that do not have this fee and will approve almost anyone, even those with bad credit.

Avoid application fees. This is another fee that is ridiculous. There are companies that will charge $50 as an application fee and will take your money and then deny the application.

Annual fee’s are OK! Annual fee’s are okay and actually should be expected. If you have bad credit, there is going to be a fee that you should be willing to pay once a year for the convenience of having the card. This fee should be around $70 or less a year.

You should never pay any fee’s other then a annual fee.

Finding a credit card that will approve you is difficult, especially for those who have bad credit. Here are a few scenario’s that I suggest everyone try. This will guarantee you a new established credit line on your credit report.

First, apply for the HSBC Dream Card. This Mastercard from HSBC will approve literally almost anyone, even with bad credit. You should be willing to pay a small annual fee (normally around $35 for this card however some folks are saying they have to pay $70). This card has a 95% approval rate and is a Mastercard so you can use the card anywhere. You can apply for this card at credit cards for bad credit

Secondly, go to Capital One’s website at www.CapitalOne.com and click on the link that says “Find out if you are prequalified”. This will suggest a card to you with a high chance of being approved.

Third, apply for a Crown Jewler’s account. This is a national Jewelry retailer that approves everyone and will report a $1,500 credit limit to your credit report.

Now you will have three new accounts. These accounts need to age like fine wine. Once approved, pay on time and use the cards. Maybe buy a tank of gas or a nice set of ear-rings. Do not go over the credit limit and make sure to meet all of the requirements around the minimum payment.
